Pre Revenge of the Sith: Windu Gonna Hafta Smack a Bitch?

There had been a few inconsistent reports about Skywalker's last mission, a few details that conflicted. Mace Windu decided he would speak to Master Kenobi about his former apprentice and as he had just finished meeting with Senator Bel Iblis of Corellia.

As he was about to board a transports that would take him back to the Jedi Temple, he saw Kenobi heading towards the transport bay. He stepped off the platform and started towards his fellow Council member, but then he stopped midstride. There was a woman lurking around him, attempting to spy? on him.

Why does Kenobi not notice this? The vague thought entered his head, but that was not the point anyway. His hand rested over his lightsaber, just in case the woman was using some sort of cloaking device that hindered them unable to read her motives. He continued over, but passed Kenobi without a word.

Obi-Wan saw Master Windu, but as the fellow Jedi did not seem in the d for conversation and he himself was in a quite rotten d from his fight with Sabé, he merely went about his way, hoping to clear his thoughts in the Garden of a Thousand Fountains.

Mace kept his eyes trained on the woman and stalked over to her. 'Can I help you with something?'

Dormé did as she was asked grateful, honored even to help the great Jedi knight and her lady in anyway she could. Their love was something rare and sacred, in this darkness of war she would do everything she could ensure it was kept safe. The threat of the Jedi would not tear them apart, not if she could help it.

Lost in her thoughts she forgets the first rule of the hunt to keep one's distance, to never forget the shadows are her allies as Sache would say. Suddenly a voice pulls her back to reality and it almost causes Dorme to jump out of her skin. Whirling around she finds herself facing one she reconises instantly to be Jedi though she is not familar with his name.

His question though polite carries an underlying warning beneath it and Dorme finds it would be pointless to try and lie. Bowing deeply she puts on her best nuetral expression as possible and answers.

"No thank you sir. I was only practicing or working on my 'homework' as m'lady Sache would say."

Which was the truth as her tutor and mentor had told her she was to practice her skills by trailing a person for a much as she could without alerting them of her presence. However the bit she had left out was the fact Sache had specifically warned her to stay away from Jedi. For her teacher had a sinking feeling her pupil was still convinced the prank from yesterday was more real then joke.

Saché? The name didn't register with Mace.

'Whom do you serve?' he questioned her, still uncertain of the woman since she didn't come across as completely sincere.

Mace didn't mess around. Coming straight to the point, he added, 'And why were you following Master Kenobi?'

It was clearly evident to him that if she was in training that she would need much more practice.

Shame faced she knows without question she is going to get a tonguelashing for sure from her teacher. Staring at her hands she wishes desperatly she could be anywhere but here especially under this stoney faced Jedi who was by far more intimidating then any of the others she had seen about.

"I serve Senator Amidala sir I'm one of her handmaidens but I am currently still undergoing my training as you can see. One of the older handmaidens Lady Sache has begun my training in espionage aspects of my position.

My 'homework' or task was to trail someone from a distance and learn of their destination without being discovered."

Her face is practically glowing now as she mutters softly.

"But it would appear I have failed at my task."

Mace pressed his lips firmly together as he listened to the young woman. 'I'm sure you will have many other opportunities to practice,' he said.

She was intimidated of him and, judging her to be harmless, assured her, 'Times like these require the best of security and your job is an admirable one. I will not report this to your superior handmaiden. Good day.'

Albeit a bit suspicious of the girl, he cast her another methodical glance before turning back to the transports. Should he see her lurking around Master Kenobi again, he would have irrefutable reason to probe her mind.

She nods slightly feeling more then ever now like a child caught with their hands on the cookie jar. His words however completely caught Dorme off guard and she almost thought she was going to faint with relief. He wouldn't tell Sache of her failure or worse Anakin.

"Thank you sir."

She says with relief and gratitude evident in her voice as she bows deeply before promptly departing ways wanting to put as much space between herself and the guarded warrior as she could. As it is she saw enough anyways and is certain the Jedi knight would be pleased to know that the two had departed on less the good terms. If only she could have heard what they were arguing about.
