Post Revenge of the Sith: And So it Begins
this is where Darkness Abated deviates from canon

Ecstasy. Absolute ecstasy was the only word that could possibly come close to describing how Obi-Wan felt upon waking to find Sabé Nabish, now Kenobi, in his arms.

The room was only dimly lit and looking back at her sleeping so peacefully, he felt right at home.

He recalled his feelings of the first time they had fallen asleep together as they lounged on her couch: that the last thing he wanted to see before falling asleep at night and the first thing he wanted to see upon waking in the morning was her face.

He recalled the many weeks she had spent here, recovering after Vader's attack, how each night she would rest her head against his chest and be reluctant to allow him to go in the morning. Nothing felt more right in the universe than being with her like that and now it was something he could experience every day.

Had it really been just a day ago when the elder Mr. and Mrs. Darklighter offered their congratulations? Had it really been the previous evening when they had meditated together as part of their ritual binding ceremony and drawn out of it in time to see the suns rising?

Sabé, Sabé...

Despite his best efforts, he could not help but remember a time not too many years ago when they had first learnt of Anakin and Padmé's marriage. He recalled how torn up and disappointed they had both been; but also fearing it would put a damper on the kisses they had secretly shared the day before.

But they chose to bear that burden together. They chose to remain faithful to their duties and to each other. It was on that day, her name became his new mantra.

And now here they were. Here at the end of the galaxy, on Tatooine, together. And nothing would separate them now.

Obi-Wan leant over to kiss her temple, but hesitated to move too much out of reluctance to wake her.

She had been right. They had served their duties well. They had put in decades of service and now this was their hard-earned reward.

The plans they had started to make together, brought a smile to his face. He remembered what she had said about all of the redecorating she wanted to do on his home, which was rather spartan to begin with and how she would continue her volunteering with the newly formed Alliance.

Always the warrior handmaiden, he mused, thinking of the time he spotted her on another Outer Rim planet, disguised as a trader of some sorts in order to gain information for the Republic.

He admired her devotion and courage. He always had. From decoy queen to handmaiden to personal security for her best friend, Sabé never failed to amaze him.

Obi-Wan was not a man of many words when it came to matters of the heart. Jedi were not trained in such things, but everything seemed to fall together perfectly when he was with her. She was the other half of his soul, he was sure of that more than he had been sure about many things in his life. To be her knight, her chosen one...it was a service of loyalty and dedication that he would never fail to honour for the rest of his life.

Dreams weren't meant to become reality she always had believed. Legends were legends for a reason, because they were meant to be intangible. But on that fateful night Sabe learnt first hand that not all dreams are out of grasp and that legends could become reality. For resting in her arms is none other then a man who could been part of the legends she grew up with. A true knight of honour and nobility. One who served the Old Guard by another name to fit the universe they now shared.

Never in her life would she have imagined that she would have the honour of carrying his name. To be able to stand by his side and to openly say he was the one who completed her. The completion of the spiritual symphony as Leesol would have said.

There can't be a more fortunate or blessed woman in this universe then myself Sabe inwardly mused as she quietly surfaced from the most peaceful and joyous of rest. Stirring slightly she felt Obi-Wan's - her husband's (even now such thoughts are almost overwhelming with joy) embrace and felt as though she could melt in it.

This is my legend, she realized. So many dream of meeting a man of honour a soul reminiscant of the Old Guard. Even her former bestfriend and queen often teased how she wished she could find a knight of old. For a time she just may have but in the end he proved to be nothing more then a demon with angel's wings. But now was not the time to dwell on the darkness, for happiness was always fleeting and in truth even the memories of the past could do little to dampen Sabe's mood. For all that mattered was the present, the here and now.

Sabe held the heart of one of the finest warriors and the most honourable of noblemen. That alone filled her with such humility and joy the likes she had never known.

At this thought she instinctivally she drew closer nuzzling her head against his shoulder as she sighs contented not wanting to open her eyes lest the moment be lost. Or even worse to learn it was all but a dream. Yet the soft warm breeze that blows through the window beside her and the cool sheets that covers her form belies the fact this is more then just a dream. Just as the faint scent of spice that lingers in the air reminds her she is indeed on Tatooine and not back in her old home on Naboo. Yet still hesitant to take the chance all the same Sabe with eyes closed offered a smile while murmuring softly.

"...please tell me Obi-Wan that this is no dream, that i'm not going to wake up and find that you aren't really here..."

He instinctively took a breath as she sighed, relishing this moment, the feel of her skin against his own, her touch, this closeness he'd never experienced with another person. Yet she, oh, she... Sabé completed him. To be so blessed as to call her his wife, Obi-Wan could not find the words to express what that meant to him, how honoured and humbled he was to have that gift.

'If this is a dream, I never want to wake up,' he murmured into her hair, closing his eyes as well.

Obi-Wan's free hand drew lazy patterns on her back and they lay there together for a good while, awake, yet in a dreamlike state. Ever since the completion of the ceremony, he had felt awakened unto another level as if through the marriage and the official recognition of their joint souls, he had doubled in awareness and life.

Then something in his memory caused him to chuckle. He couldn't help it. 'It's not fair, you know,' he remarked. 'This is only the first time I got to see you completely naked...' There had been a few times he had awkwardly helped her bathe as her injuries left her unable to do much for herself for quite a few weeks, but that did not count.

She heard his soft voice spoken into her hair and it caused her smile to widen as she took another chance to open her eyes a little. If not for anything then to be able to gaze up at him in peaceful silence to enjoy his presence without feeling the need to hide her affections. It was all too good to be real but she couldn't resist embracing it for all that it was worth. Even Heaven couldn't possibly be this wonderful she mused sleepily while as his fingers gently danced against her back.

As a comfortable silence fell between them Sabe let her own free hand wander as she gently touched his cheek before letting it trail his collarbone and finally to his arm as though putting to memory the feel of his skin against hers.

To his murmured reply she smiled softly in contentment. It felt strange and yet wonderful on so many levels to let her senses wander and take in everything around her without moving from her comfortable piece of heaven that was his arms. It was as though Sabe had awakened to find herself with a hundred new senses she never thought she had. The connection that was formed through their completion of the ceremony of Marriage seemed to deepen everything that had already existed between them and Sabe found herself relishing it with much enthusisium.

At his soft chuckle her eyes once more open as she casts him a rueful smile before blushing at his remarks as she bites her lip sheepishly the memory of that fateful day echoing in her thoughts.

"I think I was far too shocked and embaressed over my unexpected intrusion to have been able to appriciate that moment."

She remarked in gentle but teasing tones before softly adding with a shy smile.

"Besides, I thought in truth we were about even."

Though she couldn't resist teasing him a little she was careful not to divulge into the memories of the past when she was healing as she didn't want anything to ruin this perfect moment.

'Then I suppose we'll just have to take advantage of it now' he replied, grinning mischievously like the padawan he once was.

'Even? Hardly!' he teased, before bending to kiss her on the lips. Obi-Wan decided he wouldn't mind if they spent the rest of their lives trying to make it even.

Everything and anything else in that room filtered away as the two of them made love again. Space and time did not exist as they renewed the bond that had always existed between them, but they had not been able to acknowledge.

This was a newfound additional way Obi-Wan could show her how much he cared for her.

And afterwards, he told her again what he had always known to be the ultimate truth. 'I love you,' he murmured, brushing her hair from her eyes.

As with all dreams comes a the harsh moment of reality and though Sabe would gladly have spent the rest of eternity in the arms of Obi-Wan she knew eventually at some point she would have to emerge from her heaven. Thankfully she wouldn't have to do it alone anymore and the thought brought her much peace. But at his words she can only slip her arms around him once more and pull him close as she quietly whispered the response she still can't quite believe equates or fully described her feelings.

"I love you too, my noble Knight."

Kissing his cheek she gave a contented sigh as she moved to nuzzle her cheek against his neck unable to resist giggling as she felt his beard brush against her forehead tickling her skin lightly in the process. Moving slightly to get in a less ticklish position she couldn't resist grinning up at him as she did so.

"I wish I was less ticklish. It's keeping me from getting getting properly cozy."

She teased before nuzzling once more as she gave him a squeeze just happy to remain here till the end of time if necessary.

Her knight. I'm hers, he thought, marvelling at how wonderful it was to hear the words he had always known to be true. It somehow made it that much more real to hear them.

He loved her laughter which always instantly warmed his heart, but at her remark that she was having trouble getting quite comfortable, he felt a pang of guilt.

His free hand went to his thick beard and he asked, 'Would it be better if I shaved it off? I wouldn't mind--'

In truth she was only teasing him but through their connection Sabe could sense the hint of guilt at her words. She was about to remark that she was only poking fun when he shifted to place his hand to his beard in thought. But at his serious question Sabe instantly shot up giving him a look of complete shock as she shook her head fiercely.

"What!? Absolutely not!"

She balked before narrowing her eyes as she gave him a playful swat as she pretended to pout.

"I like you with the beard. Not that being clean-shaven doesn't make you look any less handsome but it suits you far more...Makes you look more distinguished."

She admitted remembering how she rathered liked the change in his features upon first setting eyes on him back in the Dojo that fateful day years ago.

Her reaction to his questions startled him to say the least, not that he wasn't flattered... Distinguished. He hadn't ever thought of it like that.

So he had to tease her about it. 'I suppose I could shave just half of it if that would help you get comfortable... No? I suppose that would look rather silly indeed.' He chuckled.

'Well then, if you're sure...' he began as his fingers lightly danced over her skin from her back to her stomach area. 'I don't suppose you'll let me explore all the other places you're ticklish?'

She grinned and laughed at his words while she made a face as he teased her for it.

"Now your just being silly!"

She said before squealing out in laughter as his fingers deftly moved from her back to her stomach.

"Don't you dare Obi-Wan Kenobi!"

She said trying to inch away from his dancing fingers her laughter filling the room as she did so.

"I'll...I'll tickle you...right back if you do!"

She warned trying to swat his hand away all the while inwardly rather relishing this bit of teasing.

'But I do dare, Mrs. Sabé Kenobi.' Her laughter brought forth a joy within him that was inexpressable, which only encouraged him further.

'Oh is that a threat?' he asked, grinning playfully. He didn't back down, deftly dodging her attempts to block his access to her skin.

Not that he would mind in the least if she were to succeed...

The sound of him saying her name, her full name made Sabe's heart soar. Even now it still felt a little surreal like a dream that was too wonderful to ever be real. But with her distracted thoughts came a moments pause of resistance and soon she was laughing harder then before.

At his teasing words Sabe tried to poke out her tongue in reply as she continued rather unsucessfully to dodge his 'attacks'. Yet all the while attempting to retaliate and tickle him back in the process.

"...Don't think...I'm...joking!..."

She replied between peels of laughter as her fingers moved for the back of his neck.

When her hands moved to his most ticklish spot, he let her, breaking off in laughter, not attempting to fight off her counterattacks as his fingers were preoccupied finding new places to stimulate her skin.

Obi-Wan hadn't laughed this hard in his life and any sleepiness had completely worn off.

When the tickling was too much, he rolled away, but only succeeded in pulling her with him. 'You--' he said between boughts of laughter. 'You are the only one--who knows I'm ticklish there!'

His laughter was like music to her ears and it only encourage Sabe to try harder to tickle him all the while only semi-attempting to dodge his dancing fingers.

Although she normally wasn't a fan of being so ticklish there was something blissfully enjoyable about this moment that she didn't want to give up or let slip past. But in the end jsut as she was turning exhausted from alughter he moved away but not without taking her with him. She cried out in amused surprise before giggling to his admittance as she raised a brow in surprise.

"Really? No one in the entire universe knows your ticklish there? Not even Master Jinn? I thought because of the master padawan connection he'd be aware of such things"

She remarked geniunely curious now but also a more then a little amused at the idea that she held the secret to his 'weakness'.

With her pulled atop him, her hair cascading down over him, he looked up into her glowing face, flushed from laughter. He swore he hadn't ever seen her look so beautiful.

'No, no,' he chuckled, slightly embarrassed at her remark. 'Master and Padawan might be in tune with each other, but certainly not to this extent...'

She grinned at his words still stifling back giggles from his previous tickling before winking at his words as she can feel the hint of embararrassment from him. Leaning in she kissed his nose before replying in teasing tones.

"Well that is good to know, I hate to think there are others who know of your little weakness."

She said giggling as she brushed back a strand of hair from his forehead.

'It would certainly be an embarrassing way to lose a battle, I must say,' he agreed, grinning as she reached down to brush a strand of hair from his brow. 'Although I can't honestly say I don't enjoy losing to you...'

He twirled her hair around his fingers as he gazed up at her in admiration still quite humbled and appreciative to be able to call this woman his wife. It was all so new; he wanted to take everything in and remember each detail.

Her eyes danced in mischief at his words as she gave him a wry grin.

"I don't think I could ever beat you at that game. After all I have far more ticklish spots to target then you do. Although thats to remain our secret as well."

She said with a wink before Sabe found herself turning serious as she studied him in pensive silence. The sunlight danced along his features casting light and shadows over them further adding to the air of peace and gentle intrigue that always lingered about him. It warmed Sabe's heart to see him look so at ease and relaxed all the while humbling her as she realized this would be the image she would waken to every morning. That she really was his wife and he, her husband. Her eyes seemed to sparkle at the thought as a gentle but shy smile made its way onto her features. She murmured unintentionally outloud.

"...Never have I ever felt so happy or so honoured..."

Her wink caused him to smile up at her whilst still studying her features intently. Waking up like this was something he would cherish forever.

After a moment, she spoke the words he felt while gazing on her, almost as if she were able to read his thoughts. Obi-Wan kissed her then, his hand tangling in her hair while his other drew semi-circles on her naked back. It was a slow, sensuous kiss, though still retaining an innocent wonderment in its exploration.

Oh Sabé, my darling, my love, my wife... he thought as he kissed her deeply.

Sabe continued to gaze down at him as her heart swelled in joy, she would never forget this moment for as long as she lived. His eyes spoke volumes and Sabe found herself lost in their blue peaceful gaze as she found herself leaning into his kiss as his fingers danced in her hair and on her back completing the sensations she could only equate to heaven.

Her own fingers slipped to his hair while her other hand remained on his arm gently caressing it as she returned his languid kiss as she melted in his embrace once more humbled to be able to share this beautiful moment with her love.

Suddenly in the back of her thoughts she heard a gentle whisper and Sabe's eyes opened in surprise. Drawing back slightly she studied him furrowing a brow in amused confusion. Did I just hear that or was it my imagination she inwardly thought before gently asking.

"...I...Did you?"

She blushed deeply.

"I thought heard your voice...But i didn't...I mean..."

She turned sheepish as she remarked softly.

"...you're probably going to thnk me mad, but I could have sword I heard your voice...in my thoughts."

When she pulled away, Obi-Wan looked to her, concerned that he might have done something she didn't like, but reading the look of amusement and confusion on her face, his expression turned curious.

'You heard that?' he asked, blinking his eyes in shock. 'I was just thinking it, but never intended to send it to you--but wait, that could only mean that you--' he gasped, grinning like a fool.

'I wonder...do you think perhaps you could try it? See if it works both ways?'

She noted his concerned expression and instantly felt embarrassed for her admittance mistaking his brief reaction to thinking she had really lost her mind. But as he blinked in shock her own eyes widen in curious surprise as he admitted to having carrying thoughts but not intentionally meaning to send it to her. Soon she too was beaming in excited amusement as she remarked to his faltered words.

"I heard your thoughts as though you were speaking in mind. It was soft but it was there."

She admitted before offered that she should try. Blushing she bit her lip a little sheepishly as she smiled shyly, wanting to give it a try but unsure how to even begin.

"I don't know how to though Obi-Wan...I've never been trained."

She admitted.

"But I'd certainly be willing to give it a try, that is if you show me how to."

'I can't believe it, but it is certainly a possible outcome...' he said, thinking aloud, still gobsmacked at the idea.

'This wouldn't require training. Don't think about it too much, just open up and focus on telling me something.'

It hadn't occured to him that their bond could be in any way deepened than it already was, but the possibility wasn't unheard of. Nor was it far from unwanted. The possibility was thrilling to say the least. He figured it had something to do with the ceremony of matrimony. It was plausible.

'You just have to want to talk to me.'

Obi-Wan waited eagerly for her to give it a go.

She was thrilled by his words and yet quite surprised by them as well. NEver in a million years would she have imagined it was possible and yet it was happening. As he explained training wasn't necessary her hopes instantly grew and Sabe found herself more then a little eager to further explore this new aspect of their already strong bond.

She couldn't say what caused it but at the sametime she wasn't about to argue the matter either. At his final word she gave him a sheepish smile as she nodded.

"Alright I'll try my best."

Closing her eyes she cleared her thoughts before focussing them on the Jedi Master before her. Then taking a deep breath she shyly tried to touch his thoughts with a simple teasing remark.

Obi-Wan?...I hope you're hearing this and not who knows else.

Opening her eyes again she quickly cast him an eager glance to see if he picked up on it.

Obi-Wan watched her intently as she closed her eyes. Her words caused his smile to broaden. So this was what he had only heard rumours about.

We are the stuff of legends, my love, he replied, gazing adoringly at his wife.

'I had only heard rumours of the ancient Jedi who married that could attain such a connection as this. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined I would ever experience this...'

His reply caused her to furrow her brow in curiousity as she studied his features blushing slightly to his adoring gaze. But as he spoke of the rumours or legends Sabe's eyes widen in surprise.

"...I never knew.

Thats incredible, to think..."

She blinked as the realization hit her causing to become quite humbled and moved as her eyes soon filled with humbled awe.

"I don't know what to say. To say this is an honour of the highest sort doesn't even come close to expressing my thoughts."

She admitted gently though mentally she attempted as best she could to convey her emotions so he could perhaps understand waht it was she was trying to say but unable to do so.
