Post Revenge of the Sith: A Jedi Wedding

The day that would celebrate Obi-Wan and Sabé's wedding, Obi-Wan dug through what little belongings he had in order to find his best clothing, Jedi dress attire. Unfortunately, he only had the one cloak, the same with his boots. The only reason this bothered him was because Sabé had mentioned a new gown she would be wearing.

'This will just have to do,' he remarked taking a rag to his boots, cleaning up the best he could.

The Darklighters requested their presence at their home that evening a few hours before the ceremony which would take place at night.

The reason for it to take place at night was to represent the darkness which had passed, and the coming hope of the dawn which would signal the beginning of their new life together.

As the hour drew nearer to their expected time of arrival at the Darklighters, he was, despite himelf, becoming giddy with expectation. He did not know how many times he adjusted and readusted the folds on his tunic, nor how many times he polished the hilt of his ligthsaber which bore the Nabooan etching.

She stared into the mirror one last time and took another deep breathe as she cleared her thoughts and attempted to calm herself. It wasn't that she was nervous by any means, but the excitement was almost unbearable. Once more she straightened the biege gown with her hands before adjusting the headpiece slightly before biting her lip as her eyes settled on the scar that decorated her brow and temple. A flicker of concern danced in Sabe's eyes as she furrowed her brow slightly.

"Are you certain I look alright? I mean despite..."

She asked quietly her voice trailing off as her hand motioned to the mark on her forehead. The older woman paused from moving around Sabe eagerly doing last minute touch-ups on her hair and adjustments to her dress her eyes dancing with amusement as she gave her a sincere smile.

"My dear you look lovely! Just like the fairy princess they speak of in folklore around here. Now don't you got and work yourself up in a tizzy over one small mark."

"It's hardly small"

Sabe whispered in concerned trying to adjust her hair to cover it as best she can only to have Mrs.Darklighter frown and readjust it again.

"Don't be doing that it will only get tangled in the jewels of your headdress!"

The older woman exclaimed before casting Sabe a stern look that was only belied by the kind understanding in her eyes.

"Don't be worrying so much about the past, it is time to let it go and embrace the future.

This-"

She motioned to the scars.

"Is but the past now, of the darkness that was there before. If you cling onto it Sefa then you will become lost in it and never be able to see the dawn that is at hand.

Besides I know for a fact Ben is going to be too distracted by your beauty to even notice that little scratch. Trust this old woman she's not as daft as you may believe."

She added with a wink to which Sabe blushed deeply and smiled. Mrs.Darklighter always had a way of calming Sabe of her fears, though not to the same degree as Obi-Wan it was enough to help her relax and soon she staring at the reflection this time with new found confidence.

"I think you are about ready my dear. Unless of course you'd rather remain here and keep adjusting that lovely dress of yours."

She teased as Sabe caught herself adjusting the shoulders slightly to ensure another scar was well hidden. Blushing once more she shook her head before gently grabbing her Katana her fingers instinctivally wrapping around the old ribbon as she cast the older woman a shy smile.

"I believe you are right, it's time we be on our way."

The older woman smiled as she nodded before letting Sabe lead the way. Soon both were well on their way to the Darklighters home as Sabe had stars in her eyes and a bounce in her step.
Once he was satisfied that there was nothing further he could do to prepare, he glanced in the mirror, thinking he was not as young as he used to be, but despite this, despite everything, there was someoen waiting for him, someone who loved him and wanted to marry him.

Smiling, Obi-Wan turned from the mirror to grab his cloak before heading out the door.

The suns had yet to set, but it was already cooling outside. He kept his hood up, arms crossed, as he took the shortest way to Mos Eisley.

He couldn't help thinking of Qui-Gon. Is this blessed, Master?

Qui-Gon's voice echoed through the Force, Times have changed, Obi-Wan. A new path lies before you.

He neared the Darklighter's home. Though it was his first time he had ever been there, he sensed Sabé's signature and knew she was there already. A warm smile graced his face as he felt her presence. Though it hadn't been that long since they last saw each other, it was now that he felt just how much he had missed her.

Mr. Darklighter answered the door, greeting him. 'Good evening, Ben. Very good to see you again. Everyone's in the back. Come on!' He escorted him, eagerly.

Obi-Wan lowered his hood upon entering the humble abode and recrossed his arms, eager to see Sabé again as he followed the elderly man.

She awaited for his arrival with anxious anticipation. Though much of her fears had been eradicated by Mrs.Darklighter she couldnt help but feel her heart skip a beat as she reconized the familiar hum that had filled her with such joy over the years. Even though she was wearing the headdress and gown that marked her as the bride to be Sabe still had troubles accepting this was all real and not some fantastic dream.

But as she watched Mr.Darklighter go to catch the door she felt almost lightheaded with joy. Though she knew Obi-Wan was due to arrive at any moment hearing the older man greeting him at the entrance served as a reminder of just how anxious she was to see the Jedi Master once more. Even though it had only been a short time that they were apart, his absense always made time move to a crawl leaving her longing for their pathes to cross once more.

"Ah there you are my dear! I was beginning to wonder when you would arrive!"

Mrs.Darklighter said in jovial tones her eyes practically dancing in joy at the sight of Obi-Wan entering the living quarters with her husband leading the way. Sabe on the other hand remained silent as she watched him with expressive eyes a shy smile playing on her lips as she couldn't help but study him for a moment enjoying his handsome appearance. Though he was garbed in the simple robes of the Jedi he looked absolutely regal and noble in her eyes. A tru Knight of the Old Guard she inwardly mused as she couldn't help but feel both humbled and overjoyed that soon she would be able to call him her husband.

Bowing deeply to him Sabe's shy smile was soon accompanied by blushing cheeks as she glanced to him and finally spoke in greeting.

"Hello Ben."

Once he followed Mr. Darklighter through their home and his eyes found Sabé, it was as if no one else existed. He did not hear the chattering of the few guests they had invited, nor could he more than say, 'Hello,' to Mrs. Darklighter for his eyes were locked on the woman he would soon call his wife.

She looked absolutely gorgeous. It was like the glory days of the Republic once more, before the war... The scars of the attack were not visible to him as he took in her entire figure. 'Sefa,' he gasped, unable to say anything else at the moment.

Sabé was the epitome of regal, like she had stepped out of a Nabooan royal painting, but even more than the physical beauty, he embraced the wave of emotions coming from her. As he bowed to her, he took her hand and kissed it.

'Why don't you ever do that to me?' Mrs. Darklighter demanded of her husband, giving him a playful swat.

Mr. Darklighter mimicked Ben in an exagerrated bow. 'Is this better, oh my beautiful, lovely, darling wife?' he asked, grabbing for her hand.

Mrs. Darklighter fought him off and went to the kitchen. 'You'd be more useful, helping me set out the dishes...'

'I've missed you,' he said so no one else could hear, rising to place his hand over hers which rested on the katana's ribbon. 'You look amazing.'

The other guests, most of whom were friends of the family, looked on and chatted amongst themselves. They wondered why they hadn't met this Ben Kenobi before and what his story was since they were, for the most part, familiar with Sefa.

Soon the dishes were all laid out and Mrs. Darklighter was spooning extra on the bride and groom's plates whether they wanted it or not.

It greatly amused Obi-Wan that she took so much joy out of this and was grateful that he was at the receiving end of such kindness.

Her cheeks blushed further as her eyes lowered a shy smile creeping into her features as he spoke her cover name. For a moment time just stood still and everything just faded into the background as Sabe eyes only saw the handsome Jedi before her. As he bowed to her, taking her hand to kiss it she bowed slightly in reply her shy smile growing more wide just as the blush of her cheeks deepened.

Though the banter between the Darklighters would have normally amused Sabe for in truth she found them to be both endearing. But in this moment she barely even noticed their presence, nevermind the guests that mingled and chatted amongst themselves. As though sensing her thoughts he quietly spoke the words that lingered in her thoughts since the minute they parted ways. Closing her eyes she smiled before opening them as she gazed up at him.

"I've missed you too."

She softly said feeling his hand slip to her's that now was resting against the ribbon. His touch as always was a welcomed one and she gave his hand a gentle squeeze before his compliment caused her heart to soar. How she had hoped she would look alright, and it brought her great joy to learn that the older woman once again was quite correct in her assessment and dismisal of Sabe's fear.

"You look quite dashing yourself."

She replied gently her eyes never wavering from his for what seemed to be too short a period of time. But eventually she was drawn back to reality as she heard Mrs.Darklighter calling her name and explaining how she wanted Ben to meet the members of her family.

"They are so eager to meet you!"

She exclaimed in joy as her husband chuckled before softly warning Ben just who to avoid lest he get his ear talked off before his wife casted him a warning look and shook her head.

"They're not all that bad despite what he may say."

She replied as Sabe casted Obi-Wan an amused look finding the old couple to be more then a little amusing.

But soon everything was in order and the guests gathered around for the dinner as Mrs.Darklighter was happily bustling about offering dishes to their guests while ensuring Sabe and Obi-Wan got their fair share whether they wanted it or not. In silence Sabe couldn't help but watch on a look of grateful amusement dancing on her features. She couldn't help but feel both grateful and humbled by these simple gestures. As the older woman moved about them Sabe couldn't help but cast Obi-Wan a warm hearted smile as she gently whispered in shy admittance.

"I still keep half expecting to wake up an discover this is all but a glorious dream. It just seems too good to be true!"

'I know exactly how you feel,'he replied in kind, reaching under the table to grab her hand.

The whole meal and conversation went by in a blur to Obi-Wan. As much as he wanted to retain each moment to memory, he mainly remembered th warmth of her hand and the emotions she emanated.

And once the meal was finished, Mr. Darklighter had to pull his wife aside, to prevent her from insisting upon the two of them doing the handbinding ritual in their home. 'Can't you see how embarrassed the two of them are about this whole thing? Let them have their private ceremony, Celia.'

Wringing her hands, she replied, 'Do you think they liked the traditional meal?'

'Every plate is clean, dear,' he said.

'Well but don't you think I should be there at least, so they know how it's supposed to go?'

'Celia...'

'All right, all right...' She stuck her tongue out at him when she thought no one was looking.

Obi-Wan graciously thanked the Darklighters for hosting this and for all of their efforts that went into planning. He also thanked their guests for coming as well. 'It was a pleasure meeting all of you.'

And as they stepped out into the warm night air, he could have sworn her heard someone comment on how polite the two of them were, figuring they were some sort of lost royalty come to Tatooine.

She felt his hand slipping into hers and Sabe instantly felt her nervous excitement simmer to a peaceful calm. Though the entire party bustled around them all that she could seem to focus on was the one beside her and the gentle warmth of his hand in hers. It all felt like a dream come true and Sabe struggled not to get lost in her emotions and his presence lest she miss everything around her.

Yet even this couldn't prevent her from catching sight of Mrs.DArklighter sneakly poking her tongue out ot her husband as he teased her for what she couldn't quite hear. Either way it was amusing and soon she was giggling softly as she pretended not to notice the old couple teasing each other.

But just as quickly as it had began it seem to draw to a close as Sabe rose to her feet along with Obi-Wan who graciously thanked the Darklighters for their efforts and being such gracious hosts as well as their guests for joining them on this happy occassion. Sabe having felt rather shy nodded her agreement before bowing in gratitude to everyone.

As she followed him outside Sabe too caught the stray comment and felt her cheeks light up on fire as the words truly had humbled her. If only they could have known. She inwardly mused to herself. So close, yet so far and in truth I wouldn't have had it any other way. At this thought she casted Obi-Wan a warm glance and gave his hand a gentle squeeze as she found herself staring at the stars reminded of another time years ago when she was but a decoy and he a Padawan.

"Who would have ever thought our pathes would one day return us to this place..."

She murmured gently as a thoughtful smile played on her features.

Obi-Wan had spent many nights walking along these very dunes, but they now brought an entirely different meaning, almost a magic quality as he led her to the perfect spot. From this position, they would see the suns rise.

The stars lit their path and he drew her up the hill where he had left a small basket of goods they would need this evening.

When they arrived, he went over to the basket and retrieved the item Mrs. Darklighter had given them, and suggested, 'I thought we could start with this Tatooine ritual. It seems fitting...'

He clasped her hand once more and reached out with the Force to bind their hands together. Then, looking into her eyes, he recited the ceremonial words, referring to the binding as that of Love and Trust. Mrs. Darklighter no doubt would have interrupted saying he said part of it out of order, but he didn't notice the mistake.

She followed him quietly unable to resist enjoying the etheral aura that seemed to linger in the night air. It was as though the gods themselves were smiling upon them encouraging them to follow this course of action to completion. Everything about this was beautiful and perfect. The night was neither too cold or warm and the moons and stars shone to their fullest casting a soft light on the path they now followed. As they approached the small hill Sabe's eyes fell onto the small basket the held what she presumed to be the items they would need to perform the ceremony.

Her heart skipped a beat as she watched him remove the elegeant threading the older woman gave them as his suggestion caused her to smile in eager anticipation. This is really happening she told herself once more as he neared.

Her cheeks warmed as she shyly felt his hand gently clasp hers before using the force to bind their hands together. Her eyes never left his though as he recited the words of the ceremony she felt her heart swell and race in joy. If he had misplaced the words or spoke them out of order it wasn't noticed by the blushing bride who was just far too content to be able to experience this with the one she loved.

In turn she quietly recited the ceremonial words that as a bride she would speak as inwardly she hoped he knew she meant every word of it with all of her heart.

As if part of the ceremony, it was difficult to tell where ones emotions stopped and the other's began. After the handbinding and removal of the ceremonial tie, he went back over to the basket to retrieve a familiar item: Sabé's sword with the ribbon containing his padawan braid.

The evening before they had exchanged their weapons, taking back the gifts they had once given all those years ago. It was the first time he had such a long time with the sword she had come to prize so highly. Obi-Wan spent a good deal of time meditating with it, similiar to the meditations he did when creating his lightsaber.

He felt a deeper connection to the blade after the meditation and he blessed it. She in turn had taken possession of his lightsaber and a part of them existed in their weapons. It was appropriate to re-exchange these gifts.

It was difficult to find the appropriate words as he humbly presented her with the sword.

'That which was once a token of friendship is now that of my commitment and loyalty to you,' he was saying. 'This is merely a physical symbol, something transitory, impermanent, whereas my devotion to you is everlasting.'

Everything about this ceremony seemed ethereal to Sabe who felt as though she was living a dream come reality. As the ceremonial tie was removed Sabe felt her heart skip a beat knowing what was to come next. Watching him remove the blade from the basket Sabe soon found her hands slipping to the sachel she had carried with her as she gently removed the lightsaber from within.

A rush of memories filled her thoughts and Sabe silently recalled the events of the previous night. Of her own silent meditations, the dancing candles that surrounded her and of the whispered prayers to the gods asking for their blessings upon the wielder of the blade. Blessing that would ensure he may never know suffering or misfortune that he may be protected from the chaos and darkness that roams outside and within.

Though it wasn't something she could ever properly explain having spent such time with the lightsaber made Sabe feel more in tune and connected with it. Though her soul was not bound to it in the sense that it would be for Obi-Wan she felt as though another connection had been made with him through it as well and it humbled her to say the least.

Cradling the lightsaber hilt in her hand Sabe gently presented it to the man she now called her husband her eyes now dancing with shy joy. At his words she felt her heart sing as she bowed her head in humble acceptance to his vows. Upon presenting the lightsaber she too spoke softly of simular vows.

"...May our souls forever be bound together as one. So that even with the passing of time and the erosion of all that is transitory we may stand strong together. May my loyality and devotion to you be the bedrock for which you stand. May my love for you be the armour that protects you from the storms of chaos and darkness.

So it is spoken, so let it be done."

Obi-Wan courteously received the lightsaber, bowing humbly as he also accepted her vows.

Whether part of the ceremony or not, he raised his head and looked deep into her eyes as he said, 'I love you so very much, Sabé,' meaning each and every word, speaking from the very depths of his being.

He gently reached out to touch her cheek before sealing their vows with a tender kiss.

As they exchanged their gifts Sabe found herself watching Obi-Wan with eyes filled with emotions only recently she was permitted to openly express. As his gaze met her own she found herself instantly drawn to the powerful and yet peaceful ocean that rested behind his blue eyes. It spoke volumes of the emotions and thoughts that even words couldn't possibly describe, which served to add to the already poignant weight that was carried in the words spoken to her.

But despite the fact she knew how he felt about her already, to hear him speak those words with such fervency and meaning moved her in ways Sabe couldn't hope to explain. It made her heart soar and her eyes shine with joy and returned love as quietly she returned his words with equal fervance and meaning.

"You are everything to me, my love. With you, I am complete."

Then without another word she felt his hand slip to her cheek as her own moved to his, as time once more seemed to stand still as their lips met in the gentle kiss that sealed the vows exchanged.

The stars shown a little brighter on Tatooine that night as the two halves of a whole were bound in matrimony.

Despite the war raging throughout the galaxy, the Jedi being hunt down, and the lives being constricted into the imperial army, none that existed here. Here on this dune they were out of time and place, a liminal world of their own.

As they kissed, Obi-Wan felt as if he had just awakened, his thoughts crystalline. It was almost as if he had been half-asleep, and was now awake. He felt like a naïve padawan that could take on the whole den of Sith and at the same time felt sagacious, tranquil, humbled by the gift of her love she freely gave to him.

It felt as though the gods were smiling upon them as Sabe was drawn into the gentle kiss of her husband. Time ceased to exist in her thoughts and all that was harsh and cold about the barren hill of Tatooine seemed to be filled with warmth and life that wasn't there before. It felt as though the universe had stood still for her and for a moment all that was evil in the universe just ceased to be, as though held captive by the walls of order itself in the commemeration of their matrimony. For but a moment only what was good and pure was left to remain in their wake and Sabe couldn't help but relish it for all that it was worth.

Yet as she melted into the sweet kiss given Sabe felt as though her very soul was opening it's eyes for the first time. It was as though everything that had passed before suddenly carried no consequence, that all the suffering they had been though was but a trial to pass to lead them to this reward. It left her feeling more alive then she had ever felt in her life and at the same time more at peace with the universe then she had ever known. Even the darkest things no longer bothered in her in that moment.

He was here in her arms, his soul now one with hers and Sabe couldnt have been more happy. Though she had always know this to be true she couldn't help but once more be humbled upon by his open proclaimation of his love. It was without question the greatest gift that Sabe could have ever had bestowed upon her and it was something she knew she would treasure for all time.

The pair soon sat together on a palette Obi-Wan laid out for them so they could meditate together under the blanket of stars. He took her hands in his and closed his eyes, almost feeling the binding of their souls before the meditation even began.

He leant over to touch his forehead to hers as the meditation deepened. There was no losing of self, only gaining of the other and it was as though it multiplied reneweing itself and becoming, the mutablility of the new soul they created together in perfect harmony.

A shooting star shot through the sky overhead, though Obi-Wan was not aware of it, consumed within the trance of loving peace.

It was nearly sunrise when the meditation was complete, but instead of being exhausted from the long day and evening, he felt oddly rejuvinated, looking on her, Sabé, the woman he was now able to call wife. He couldn't help but smile broadly as he looked at her.

He wondered if she wanted to go home now and the thought made him blush. Home. Their home. Together. He withheld asking, for the moment anyway, and was content watching the suns rise, amazed at just how beautiful the scene was. The perfect beginning to their life as husband and wife.

His hands slipped into her and within that moment Sabe felt everything come together. As they begin their meditation Sabe found herself learning first hand the true meaning behind the concept of harmony. It was nothing like she had ever felt before. Such peace and love she had never felt before in her life as well as a completion that surpassed everything she could have possibly equate it to. When they spoke of souls binding as one Sabe could have never guessed just how deep this bond would go, but as their thoughts deepened with the meditation she found herself more then humbled by its intensity.

She felt his forehead touch hers and with it came an even more profound rush of emotions, thoughts and understanding. It was as though they were creating a symphony of harmony. The perfect orchestration of music that once began as two solo pieces of work, now bound through notes that only they could understand.

It was beautiful and it was perfect harmony in everyway.

Eventually it became as such one could no londer know where one ended and the other began. For where one was weak, the other was strong, where one falter the other supported. So that in the place of two already strong spirits there now stood in it's place an even more powerful soul.

As they slowly emerged from their meditations Sabe found herself feeling more alive then she had ever felt before. Instead of fatigue from the long hours spent she felt fully awake as though her soul was refreshed and rejuvinated.

It is complete now she inwardly thought her eyes now filled with humble joy as they fell onto the man she now called her husband. At his smile she felt her cheeks warm as she promptly returned it feeling as though her heart would burst in joy at this moment.

In silence she rested her head against his shoulder just content to be near his side as they watched the suns rise together. It is the end of an era and the beginning of a new one she inwardly mused peacefully. One that I have been so blessed to share with you...
