Duke Raghvin Jaffa

Duke Jaffa rules the mercantile town of Uriash on Naboo. He enforces his rule through use of brutal force of the family's Samukaa. For nearly a century, the Jaffas, were the ruling house. They retain their native language (Uriashian which is a dialect of Ancient Nabooan) and customs. The duke is extremely lavish in spending and resorted to underhanded dealings (including some with the Trade Federation and later the Separatists, mostly through his secret relationship with/threats from Darth Sidious). Power, wealth, and status as well as the ackowledgement of these possessions are what drives Duke Jaffa.

His wife died early in their politically arranged marriage, leaving him with their ten-year-old daughter, Illyn. He intended to marry her off to a noble family, possible from Corellia, but this fell through when she went behind his back to marry a lower-class Uriashian man. He subsequently disowned her and has since made no contact with her. He had no idea that she had a daughter until he found out someone named Dormé was using his surname to become a lady in waiting for the queen. The only reason he allowed this, was in the hopes she might prove useful to him in the future, so that he might regain the money he lost and even raise his own status in galactic society.
