Chosen One
The title 'Chosen One' refers to the Jedi Prophecy that someone would bring balance to the Force. At the time of the discovery of Anakin's high midichlorian count, the Jedi Council believed it to be more of a legend than a prophecy. The fact that Qui-Gon rallied for his son, Anakin, to be this Chosen One made his claim that more unbelievable. However, upon Qui-Gon's death at the hand of a Sith (the Sith had not been seen or heard from in centuries), the Jedi Council believed there must be truth to this and Yoda gave Obi-Wan his permission to train Anakin in the ways of the Jedi.
Anakin was a prince that would one day inherit an empire whose mother spoiled him rotten, the Jedi Council considered him their saviour, their Chosen One, and were far more lenient with him and the rules that applied to the Jedi, and he soon earned a name for himself in the Clone Wars as the Hero With No Fear.
With time, however, Anakin's destiny of restoring balance to the Force was incredibly draining and over the years of being trained as a Jedi and also fighting against his darker urges, the struggle between light and dark, Jedi and Sith became almost too much to bear. Anakin felt like he was betraying himself for remaining a Jedi and guilty at the thought of betraying his brother in becoming a Sith.
