Anakin Skywalker is the son of Shmi Bhraj Skywalker and Qui-Gon Jinn, adopted son of Emperor Cliegg Skywalker, half-brother of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Anakin was raised primarily on his mother's homeworld of Tatooine, rarely seeing much of his Imperial stepfather. From the age of two, he was betrothed in marriage to Padmé Amidala, Crown Princess of Naboo in the hopes that through their alliance, Naboo would become part of the Coruscanti Empire.

After the Naboo Crisis, Anakin began training as a Jedi under his stepbrother Obi-Wan and was revealled to be the 'Chosen One' of a Jedi prophecy stating he would 'bring balance' to the Force. Already headstrong and self-centred, his new additional title made him cocky and egotistical. The prince was spoiled rotten by his mother and used to getting his own way, the Jedi treated him like a messiah, and it seemed like everything in the universe was bending to his will. That is, of course, until his rude awakening when he attempted to kiss his betrothed, whom he had a boyish crush on.

Once Padmé rejected his feelings, Anakin began the long process of finding out he wasn't the only person in the world and that other people's opinions mattered. Not as sure of himself his mid to late teenage years left him, more often than not, confused and frustrated. Most of this having to do with the Naboo queen's fiery handmaiden, Lady Dormé.

 

Additional Notes

One of the major things about our AU Anakin is that we keep him as close to canon as possible. Nothing bugs us more than reading about Obi-Wan going to the dark side or Anakin suddenly becoming 'good' without even struggling against the dark side. We believe that the dark side is like cancer, so even if you're on the rebound, there's always a chance you can fall ill again. It's something that sticks around in your blood and can never be fully eradicated.That being said, we've added a few things to Anakin's characteristics.

He's terrified of large bodies of water and rainstorms. Growing up on Tatooine, he only witnessed one rainfall which ended in flooding and illness. His mother almost died of a disease because of it when he was very young.

Anakin can barely write in Basic. He doesn't care for reading and writing much at all, as he would rather be sparring or flying. Thusly, he has horrific grammar and sometimes writes characters backwards, especially in Uriashian.

He loves blue milk, but has since acquired a taste for Dormé's favourite beverage, a toxic green alcoholic drink called apsinthos.

Dormé swears Anakin hadn't seen a hairbrush until she met him.
