Her Royal Highness, Padmé Naberrie Amidala, Queen of Naboo

Padmé's elder sister gave up her rights to the Nabooan crown when she married an artist. Padmé's parents were pleased when they were able to arrange a marriage between her and the Prince of the Coruscanti Empire. However, after the tragedy the occured on Naboo during the Separatist occupation (when Padmé's mother was killed and Padmé ascended the throne), Padmé tried to negotiate with the Empire, to keep them away from Naboo. The Coruscanti Empire wanted Naboo to become part of the Empire, but Padmé revered Naboo's independence.

From an early age, Padmé had to spend time with Anakin, but never thought of him as more than a friend or even little brother. She always referred to him as 'Ani' just as his mother did. When Anakin attempted to kiss her, she informed him she did not return his feelings, despite the fact they were betrothed to be married. If that were to happen, Naboo would become part of the Empire and neither did she want to marry the little Jedi prince.

Padmé was one of the founders of the Rebellion against the Empire which formed shortly after Anakin came to power.
